Think Aloud

The DISC Study is now recruiting participants for interviews

The DISC (Digital Interventions for South Asians with Cardiometabolic disease) Study is looking for patients with a mobile device to take part in interviews about their experiences of digital healthcare

About the study

The DISC Study is looking at inequalities in the use of digital health interventions, such as websites and phone apps, for cardiovascular disease and diabetes. You can learn more about the background to the DISC Study
here.

We are holding interviews to understand how people from South Asian backgrounds use health technology for cardiovascular disease and diabetes, and how this technology can be improved.

Who can take part?

We are interested in hearing your experiences of digital health interventions if you:

  • have a diagnosis of diabetes, heart disease, or high blood pressure
  • are South Asian and over 18 years of age
  • are able to speak English
  • have access to a mobile phone or other device, and be able to bring this to interview

What does the interview involve?

A researcher will ask you questions about why and how you have used a digital health intervention, such as website or app, to manage your health condition. If you have never used one, they may ask you what the reason is. As part of this interview we will ask you to use a digital health intervention on your device (such as mobile phone, tablet, or laptop), and tell us about what you are doing.

There are no right or wrong answers. We are interested in hearing about your experiences and opinions about digital healthcare. The interview will take place in person, at a convenient location, and will last about one hour.

How do I take part?

To take part in this research please contact the research team at: disc-study@ucl.ac.uk

All participants will receive a £50 retail voucher as a token of our thanks.

You will be invited to join an online discussion where a member of the research team will be asking questions and listening to your experiences of digital healthcare. All information provided will be treated as strictly confidential and you will be free to withdraw at any time.
